Nitride Ferro Silicon (FeSiN) is a composite obtained from the nitriding of Ferro Silicon. It has relevant thermal and mechanical characteristics. It is used as a raw material in Tap Hole in blast furnaces to obtain a material with high resistance to heat and low corrosion rate. When applied in steel it increases the mechanical and corrosion resistance and in paints it raises the thermal resistance. Available in different grades, from lump material to 325 mesh.
Powdered ferrosilicon nitride is mainly used in the tap hole of large blast furnaces, and a small amount is used in iron runner materials or other unshaped refractory materials. Granular ferrosilicon nitride is mainly used in silicon-oriented steel or other steels (Such as HRB400 rebar) that use nitrides to improve strength.
Differences between ferro silicon nitride and silicon nitride
The uses of ferrosilicon nitride and silicon nitride are very similar, but their main components are different. Ferro silicon nitride is accompanied by free iron, but silicon nitride contains very little iron.
The price of ferrosilicon nitride is about half of that of silicon nitride, and the performance of the two is nearly the same.
